menschen unter schmetterlingen

auf dem heimweg von der schule
ich war sechs
sah ich einen mann aus dem sechstsen stock eines plattenbaus
springen

bevor er aufschlug
hielt mir meine mama
die augen zu (vermutlich aus liebe)
ihre hände rochen nach stachelbeere

noch heute
stell ich mir manchmal vor dass er
nie aufgeschlug dass er
wegflog in den südwesten Mexikos
mit einer schar monarchenfalter
über die ich einmal
im national geographic las dass sie
(im unterschied zu vögeln)
nie mehr
nach hause zurückkehren

noch heute
stell ich mir manchmal vor dass er
nachts in einem kokon schläft
und jeden morgen neu zur welt kommt
wie eine zeitung

lidé mezi motýly

když mi bylo šest
po cestě do školy viděla jsem pána
vyskočit
z šestýho patra paneláku

než stihl dopadnout
máma mi (asi z lásky)
zakryla oči
ruce jí voněly po angreštu

ještě teď
si někdy představuju že
nikdy nedopadl že
odletěl na jihozápad Mexika
s hejnem monarchů stěhovavejch
o kterejch jsem jednou
četla v National Geographic že
(narozdíl od ptáků)
už se nikdy
domů nevrací

ještě teď
si někdy představuju že
přes noc spí v kukle
a každý ráno se znova narodí
jako noviny

people among butterflies

when I was six
on the way to school I saw a man
jump
from the sixth floor of an apartment building

before he could land
my mom (out of love I guess)
covered my eyes
her hands smelling of gooseberries

even now
I sometimes imagine that
he never landed that
he flew away to Southwest Mexico
with a swarm of monarch butterflies
that I once
read about in National Geographic that
(unlike birds)
never
return home

even now
I sometimes imagine that
at night he sleeps in a coccoon
and is born again each morning
like newspapers

angezogen

teile von dir
die ich berührte
sind mir jetzt so nah wie
der halleysche komet
oder die senkung der renten

teile von mir
die du berührtest
sind dir jetzt so nah
wie prostatakrebs
oder fiskalpolitik

bis heute aber
denke ich an dich
bei jedem blitzschlag

srpen a tři čtvtě

napadlo tě někdy že
konce dne jsou tolik nepodobný začátkům
až ses divil
že tě spaní nebolí?

zeptala ses mě jednou za bouřky

bylas nahá a já
oblečený

kousky tebe
kterých jsem se dotknul
jsou mi teď blízko asi jako
Halleyova kometa
nebo snížení důchodů

kousky mě
kterých ses dotkla
jsou ti teď blízko
asi jako rakovina prostaty
nebo fiskální politika

do dneška na tebe ale
myslím pokaždé
když uhodí blesk

august and three quarters

has it ever occurred to you that
the ends of days are so unlike their beginnings
that you were surprised
that sleep doesn’t hurt?

you asked me once during a thunderstorm

you were naked and I
clothed

the pieces of you
that I touched
are close to me now like maybe
Halley’s Comet
or pension reductions

the pieces of me
that you touched
are close to you now
like maybe prostate cancer
or fiscal politics

until today though I think
of you every time
lightning strikes
