Heroines of Sound: Antje Vowinckel, Audrey Chen.

Ganz besonders freut uns die neue Kooperation von Schamrock mit dem Heroines of Sound Festival Berlin. Kuratiert von Bettina Wackernagel, Mo Loschelder und Sabine Sanio, präsentiert Heroines of Sound seit 2014 frühe und aktuelle Heldinnen des elektronischen Sounds. Ausgewiesenes Ziel ist es, das Oeuvre der weiblichen Pioniere einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Gleichzeitig sollen historische Verbindungslinien zu zeitgenössischen Musikerinnen und deren elektronischen Aufführungen sichtbar und spürbar gemacht werden. Mit Heroines Editions wurde eine Veranstaltungsreihe entwickelt mit ausgewählten Performances, mit Auftritten von Antje Vowinckel und Audry Chen) präsentieren wir dieses Jahr zwei dieser Editions in München. Das kommende Heroines of Sound Festival findet statt vom 6. - 8. Dezember 2018 im Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin.

Stag Song: Audrey Chen
Audrey Chen, *1976 bei Chicago, musician of chinesisch-american decent, currently residing in Berlin. Received a classical music education in cello and voice, specializing in old and new music. In 2003 she started to deal with new possibilities of producing sounds to develop her own individual esthetics. In her performances she uses her cello, voice and analogue electronics, combining their sounds and elements. Her music is mainly improvised and therefore expressed in a very personal and emotional way. ⇒ more on Stag Song.

In Places of Logic: Antje Vowinckel
Antje Vowinckel is a Berlin based sound and radio artist. She studied literature and music (flute/piano) and wrote a thesis on „Collage in radio play“. She has been commissioned to do radioplays and shows for a variety of public radio stations such as (WDR, SWR, HR, BR) as well as for foreign stations and festivals (Sophiensäle, ZKM Karlsruhe, Issue Project Room, New York, Biennale Bonn, Prix Italia, Festivals in Vienna, Alicante, Wroclaw, Porto, New York, Donaueschingen. Hammer Museum Los Angeles, British Council, Berlin, Humboldt-Lab).
Her works have been broadcasted and presented in Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Czechia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Croatia, Portugal, Poland, Australia. In recent years, she has created also live performances (organ and objects; voice and vinyl), installations and video compositions. Her focus is on the musicality of the spoken word, for example in compositions with dialect melodies or in pieces based on automatic speaking.
