8. Schamrock-Festival der Dichterinnen - Internationale Lyrik Biennale
13-15 November, Einstein Kultur München – 10 Dezember, Literaturhaus Wien
Das Schamrock-Festival ist das weltweit erste und bis heute einzige Festival für Dichterinnen. Die achte Ausgabe findet statt vom 13. bis 15. November 2026 in München und am 10. Dezember in Wien. Über 50 Lyrikerinnen und Musikerinnen aus mehr als 20 Ländern treffen auf ihre Münchner Kolleginnen – in Lesungen, Performances, Workshops, Panels, Konzerten und internationalen Kooperationsprojekten.
Schamrock versteht Dichtung als eine Kraft, die aufrüttelt, tröstet, Wahrnehmung schärft und gesellschaftliches Handeln inspiriert. Sie spricht uns auf einer tief emotionalen Ebene an und erweitert unser Verständnis von uns selbst und der Welt. Das Festival schafft einen Raum für transnationalen künstlerischen und gesellschaftlichen Dialog – miteinander und mit dem Publikum.
Mit dem Festival-Motto Conference of the Birds fragen wir angesichts globaler Krisen und Konflikte nach Gegenwart und Zukunft der Poesie. Das Programm verbindet renommierte Stimmen wie Anne Waldman, Sabine Gruber, Anja Utler und Monika Rinck mit neuen poetischen Positionen u.a. aus Afghanistan, Georgien, Mazedonien, Mexiko, Myanmar, Slowenien, Syrien. Länderschwerpunkte sind in diesem Jahr geplant zu Katalonien, Grönland, Lettland, die Tschechische Republik (Gastland der Frankfurter Buchmesse), die Schweiz und die USA, begleitet von Übersetzungsprojekten. Münchner und bayerische Dichterinnen sind ebenfalls zentral vertreten.
Das Schamrock-Projekt legt besonderen Wert darauf, auch die Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen von Dichterinnen weltweit sichtbar zu machen. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem deutschen PEN ist das Programm Writers-in-Exile mit mehreren Autorinnen vertreten und setzt ein wichtiges Zeichen für verfolgte Schriftsteller*innen.
Ergänzt wird das Programm durch Lyrik-Workshops mit Jugendlichen. Die Ergebnisse werden in einer öffentlichen Abschlusspräsentation vorgestellt, zu der Familien und Gäste herzlich eingeladen sind.
Schamrock ist zudem Teil des Creative Europe Programms der Europäischen Union. Unter dem Leitgedanken Equal Pay, Equal Show, Equal Pension (EPESEP) arbeitet Schamrock gemeinsam mit europäischen Partnerorganisationen an Fragen der strukturellen Gleichstellung in der Literaturwelt und an einem Aktionsplan zur Verbesserung der Position von Schriftstellerinnen. Ergebnisse und Erfahrungen dieses Projekts werden am letzten Festivaltag in München diskutiert.
8. Schamrock-Festival of Women Poets - International Poetry Bienial
13-15 November, Einstein Kultur München – 10 Dezember, Literaturhaus Wien
The Schamrock Festival is the world's first and, to date, only festival dedicated to women poets. Its eighth edition will take place from November 13 to 15, 2026, in Munich and on December 10 in Vienna. Over 50 female poets and musicians from more than 20 countries will meet their Munich colleagues in readings, performances, workshops, panels, concerts, and international collaborative projects.
Schamrock understands poetry as a force that stirs, comforts, sharpens perception, and inspires social action. It speaks to us on a deeply emotional level and expands our understanding of ourselves and the world. The festival creates a space for transnational artistic and social dialogue—with one another and with the audience.
With the festival motto "Conference of the Birds," we explore the present and future of poetry in light of global crises and conflicts. The program connects renowned voices such as Anne Waldman, Sabine Gruber, Anja Utler, and Monika Rinck with new poetic perspectives from countries including Afghanistan, Georgia, North Macedonia, Mexico, Myanmar, Slovenia, and Syria. This year's focus will be on Catalonia, Greenland, Latvia, the Czech Republic (Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair), Switzerland, and the USA, accompanied by translation projects. Poets from Munich and Bavaria are also prominently featured.
The Schamrock project places particular emphasis on highlighting the living and working conditions of female poets worldwide. In collaboration with German PEN, the Writers-in-Exile program features several authors and sends an important message of support for persecuted writers.
The program is complemented by poetry workshops for young people. The results will be presented at a public final presentation, to which families and guests are cordially invited.
Schamrock is also part of the European Union's Creative Europe Programme. Guided by the principle of Equal Pay, Equal Show, Equal Pension (EPESEP), Schamrock is working with European partner organizations on issues of structural equality in the literary world and on an action plan to improve the position of female writers. The results and experiences of this project will be discussed on the last day of the festival in Munich.

Einladung zur Teilnahme an unserer Umfrage zur aktuellen Arbeits- und Lebenssituation und Diskriminierung von Dichterinnen und Schriftstellerinnen im Literaturbetrieb
Seit 2024 beteiligt sich Schamrock am EU-Projekt EPESEP: Equal Pay, Equal Show, Equal Pension. Es zielt darauf ab, das Bewusstsein für misogyne Strukturen im Literaturbetrieb zu schärfen und Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der Situation von Autorinnen in Österreich, Deutschland, den Niederlanden und Armenien zu entwickeln.
EPESEP thematisiert Einkommens-, Sichtbarkeits- und Pensionsungleichheiten.
Die Umfrage zu den Arbeitsbedingungen und Erfahrungen im Literaturbetrieb in Deutschland wird im Auftrag des Schamrock e.V. (schamrock.org) von der Forschungs- und Beratungsstelle Arbeitswelt Wien (FORBA) durchgeführt.
Der Erfolg der Umfrage hängt von Ihrer Unterstützung ab. Sie wird 10 bis maximal 20 Minuten Ihrer Zeit in Anspruch nehmen.

From 25 to 27 October 2024, more than 50 women poets from over 20 countries gathered in Munich's Werksviertel for three intensive festival days under the motto "Conference of the Birds". Audience attendance was particularly pleasing: both in the afternoon and evening events, the readings and performances took place in front of full rows. The high level of public interest reflects the lively Munich poetry scene, which has grown over many years and in which Augusta Laar and Kalle Laar are significantly involved.
A symposium was held on the EU project EPESEP "Equal Pay - Equal Show - Equal Pension", which will deal with the situation of women in the literary world over the next few years, with Schamrock partner organisations from Austria, Holland and Armenia and guests from Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland, among others. The festival is still the only one of its kind in the world and is organized by Augusta Laar and Kalle Aldis Laar with Schamrock e.V.
